Student shot dead by cultist

A 300-level student of the University of Benin
simply identified as James has been shot dead
by suspected cultist.
He was reportedly shot on Monday night at
Ekosodin community, a town mainly inhabited by
students, The Nation reports.
James was a student of the department of
Vocational and Technical Education.
According to an eyewitness account, James was
going home after watching a football match at
one of the viewing centres in the community
when he was attacked by the assailants.

He said: “It might not be unconnected with cult
activities on the campus. But he was aware of
what happens at Ekosodin at nights. I just don’t
know why he decided to risk his life like that.”
After he was shot, he was rushed to the
Accident and Emergency Ward of the University
of Benin Teaching Hospital, where doctors
confirmed him dead.
His shattered head showed that he was shot at
close range.
This is coming barely two weeks after one
Gbenedio Ejiroghene, a 300-level student of the
Department of Chemistry, was gruesomely
murdered by unknown gunmen at the Ugbowo
campus within the University.
